Steps for EIN To Existing QuickBooks Desktop Payroll

Before you begin with the steps to add EIN to your QuickBooks, you need to ensure that you are using a single payroll subscription for all companies on the same machine. Only one company file per EIN is supported by QuickBooks. Therefore, multiple files under the same EIN can generate errors on your QB. Payroll administrator for your Payroll services subscription should be the same for all your companies. Also, to a single subscription, there is a limit on the number of companies you can add. It depends on your company files whether you can add an EIN to your existing payroll subscription.

  1. For the addition of EIN number, you need to click on Payroll by visiting Employees option on your QuickBooks.

  2. Click on USE MY EXISTING PAYROLL SERVICE and from the ACCOUNT MAINTENANCE window, add the file.

  3. You would find an option to add the subscription number there.

  4. Use the radio button for adding the EIN number and enter the information using the ZIP code.

  5. If you are unable to find your own subscription, then click on I have an existing subscription.

  6. If you already have a service key with you and want to add EIN number to your subscription, you can contact our customer care representatives.

  7. We can also assist you in moving EIN to your current payroll subscription.

  8. Press Next and add the EIN number of your company and Review the Information.

  9. Once you are done with the process, you can print it out or perform your normal functions by visiting QuickBooks.

  10. You can verify your service key by clicking on Employees and visiting My Payroll Service.

  11. Click on Manage Service Keys and press View for displaying your new service key.

  12. You would find the manage service keys button on the top menu bar.
